Merrick Park farmers market reopens

Florida Fresh Market, a Coral Gables market for local farmers, bakers, and other foodmakers and artisans, has reopened for weekend business.

The Market is home to local treats like baker Albert the Bread Man and Liquid Gold Local Honey, as well as artisan providers like Dinah Alvarez Skin Care and Eclat Soy Candles. The stalls will follow new health requirements but look to bring the same sense of familiarity and friendship that makes farmers’ markets, often advertised through tools like poster printing and special Promotional Products, such a popular destination for grocery shopping or just a bite to eat.

Florida Fresh Market’s organizers have also started holding pop-up drive-through markets to help deliver local food to people where they are. These markets have been held during the week at locations like Pembroke Lakes Mall and Dadeland Mall, featuring scrumptious food trucks like Mexican joint El Rey de Tamal and the self-explanatory The Donut Truck. The goal of both the regular weekly market and the drive-through pop-ups is to encourage people to get back into the routine of shopping and eating local. Vendor Tere Garcia expressed this purpose succinctly:

“Miami is a resilient community, and all we can ask is for people to come out to the farmers market and support local makers. There is no better feeling than knowing how your product was made.”

Florida Fresh Market had its official reopening on May 24 at The Shops of Merrick Park in Coral Gables. Future editions will be held every Sunday between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm.
