Books & Books, a Coral Gables bookstore, will be hosting an online event marking the release of a new book by former NBA All-Star Chris Bosh.
The virtual event is called “An Evening with Chris Bosh: Letters to a Young Athlete”, after the name of Bosh’s book. The stream is a co-production of Books & Books and the Miami Book Fair.
The book is a memoir that reflects on Bosh’s life from his teenage days to his forced early retirement from a heart issue. The story is told through a series of letters aiming to convey the lessons that Bosh learned throughout his career to a younger audience. Virtual talks and events, often advertised through flyer printing and social media, are a key part of a book’s release cycle and can offer audiences personal interactions with their favorite authors.
The event will feature a conversation with Bosh about the book and his life. Watchers can purchase a signed copy of Letters to a Young Athlete, which will be shipped to their house. Bosh began his NBA career with the Toronto Raptors before moving to the Miami Heat, where he was a key part of the team that won the NBA championship in 2012 and 2013, making him beloved in Miami and nearby areas like Coral Gables. Since retiring, Bosh has launched the Chris Bosh Foundation, which promotes reading and education in Toronto and Bosh’s native Dallas.
“An Evening with Chris Bosh” will take place online on the evening of June 1, with tickets available through Books & Books and the Miami Book Fair.
