Two Coral Gables community events are on the horizon in the next few weeks.
The First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way will be presenting its annual Miami Children’s Chorus’ “Voices of Angels.”
For more than 30 years, the chorus and its over 100 youth voices have presented a holiday program featuring a contemporary and traditional vocal and choral repertoire. Selections include multicultural pieces, classical works, pop, jazz, and gospel.
Tickets are $20 for general admission, $18 per member of groups of five or more, and free for elementary and middle school children. The event will take place December 18 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Parents of children in choirs such as this often take pictures of their budding vocalists to local Print shops to be duplicated for the children’s performance portfolios.
In the new year, Coral Gables Museum will hold its annual gala, A Night of Zarzuela. Zarzuela is a Spanish or Cuban dramatic-lyric genre containing popular, operatic, dance and spoken scenes. Community honorees will be the owners of Rodriguez Quiroga Architects and MG Developers Dorys Martin Torrealba and Airio Torrealba.
Selections from Luisa Fernanda and Celia Valdes Zarzuelas will be performed by sopranos – Eglise Gutierrez, and Yetsabel Arias, mezzo soprano Maria Antunez, tenor Martin Nusspaumer, and baritone Armando Naranjo.
Spanish and Cuban cuisine will be prepared by Chef Chris Valdes.
A Night of Zarzuela will be January 12, beginning at 6:00 pm. Get a Free Quote for Print
