The holiday season will be starting soon, and Coral Gables will have the opportunity to clean up, buy trees and enjoy the sounds of caroling.
The FIU Interior Architecture program will benefit from the sale of highly decorated Christmas trees at its 35th annual Festival of the Trees. Sponsors will underwrite local designers who create unique holiday trees to be displayed and sold at the gala. At the end of the evening, guests will make donations and claim the Christmassy art pieces. Suggested donations will be at least $200 per tree.
This year’s Festival of the Trees will take place Thursday, November 16 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Coral Gables Country Club, 990 Alhambra Circle.
The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce is asking for volunteers to join in its annual Holiday Downtown Community Cleanup. Volunteers are encouraged to wear their holiday garb as they collect litter, and prizes will be awarded to those gathering the most. Afterwards, everyone will be treated to refreshments and light bites at a nearby restaurant.
Holiday Downtown Community Cleanup will be Monday, December 4 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Finally, carolers from local high schools dressed in period costumes will be strolling through Giralda Plaza and along the Miracle Mile streets from 7:00 pm to 9:00 on December 7 through 9, and December 14 to 16.
Stationery printers often use carolers in period costumes for the pictures on their Christmas cards.
