Held once each year in conjunction with the Annual Lahr Native Plant Symposium, a Washington event will soon be helping area gardeners to fill their beds, pots and planters with an assortment of native species.
Friends of the National Arboretum hosts a variety of fundraising and educational activities, and its annual pop-up native plant market has proven to be a crowd pleaser. It will begin in the early morning, and the shoppers do not have to be registered with the symposium to take part.
Those who would like to take advantage of the opportunity are advised to arrive early, as they will likely receive the best selection of the plants available. They will all be suited to local growing conditions, and the vendors will be coming in from across the mid-Atlantic region. Perennials as well as spring ephemerals and woody species will be included, and a full list of the small businesses that will be taking part will be released to the public closer to the function’s scheduled date.
Pop up horticultural sales tend to be a common sight in the spring, giving home gardeners the chance to both fill their beds and learn from subject matter experts. Plant tags, care tip sheets, order and purchase Forms and other custom documents can be ordered from area Stationery printers.
The Friends of the National Arboretum have scheduled its annual Native Plant sale for March 29th. More information will be made available as its date approaches.
