A Washington venue that showcases the importance of wetlands and also offers inspiration to those who enjoy gardening with water is seeking a helping hand for a housekeeping activity.
Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens has put out a call for volunteers to help out with invasive plant removal. The two-hour project will be facilitated by the National Park Service, and no previous experience is required.
The volunteers will be removing invasive woody shrubs so that native ecosystems will be protected. Everyone is asked to park in the lot on Deane Avenue NE, then a dirt path will lead them to the project area where a facilitator will be on hand to welcome everyone and help the activity run smoothly.
Anyone under 18 is asked to have an adult volunteer with them. Everyone is advised to wear clothing suitable for the task at hand, although tools and gloves will be supplied to them. They will also need to bring their own water.
Many not-for-profit organizations count on volunteers to lend a helping hand. Stationery printers can prepare bespoke certificates, as well as Corporate Gifts to hand out to thank them for their generosity.
This chance to lend a hand at Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens is scheduled for Sunday, February 1 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. A volunteer application and other information is available on the venue’s website.
