The Capital Fringe Festival will come to Washington DC this summer, with more than 145 performances.
The event is an annual performing arts festival that introduces non-traditional art as well as theatrical productions. A new partnership has been formed between the Fringe Training Factory and the DC Library Foundation.
There will be six slots on the calendar for site-specific performances and works. Workshops will begin next month for a four week period. Topics covered will include publishing and self-producing. A video conference session with festivals from across the country will also take place.
After the summer season, plays written or published by the local playwrights will be added to the DC Public Library collection. Four concerts will take place this summer with the ‘Music in the Library’ program.
The festival’s humble beginnings date back over 60 years to the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. Performers that were not included in the group were nicknamed ‘Fringe’, and created their own theatres on the outskirts of the actual festival. As the Fringe Festival gained momentum, the event soon surpassed the main festival.
After moving to Canada in the 1980s, the Fringe Festival concept took root in the USA and has now evolved into six events in different cities each year.
Poster printing is a useful method in creating a means of communication about upcoming events such as this festival. Posters can be mounted throughout the city to attract the attention of people passing by.
The Fringe Festival will take place July 10-27. More information is available on the website.Get a Free Quote for Posters
