Annual festival welcomes spring to the nation's capital

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is returning to Washington, D.C. beginning this month and lasting for four weeks.

The kickoff for the festival is the Pink Tie Party and it will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on March 18 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm. As part of a fundraiser for the festival, guests will be treated to food and beverage stations, live entertainment, and a silent auction. VIP guests will be admitted an hour earlier and will be eligible for special giveaways and cocktails. These tickets are $300, while general admission tickets cost $225.

The opening ceremony, which will be held on March 26 at the Warner Theatre DC, is set to feature performances from special guests including Asako Tamura, Gamarjobat, and Miho Hazama.

Other events taking place during the festival include the Blossom Kite Festival and the Waterfront Fireworks Festival. One popular part will be the Cherry Blast, which is a two-day event being held at the Carnegie Library from April 16 to 17. It will feature costume contests, food, sushi making workshops, a dance party, game tournaments, and anime displays.

Washington banner printing companies may be asked to provide products to help highlight special events during the festival.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival will be held from March 20 until April 17. For more information, call 877-442-5666.
