Annual boat race returns to DC

The 3rd annual Capital Dragon Boat Regatta at the Wharf will be held next month, presented by Great White North.

The regatta will consist of up to 40 teams of 20 rowers and one drummer. Up to 25 people can be on each team’s roster and all must be aged 12 or older.

There will be two divisions: premier/out of town and community. The fees for each team are $1,245, but the difference is that the community teams are given two training sessions while the premier teams do not get any since it is assumed they are already proficient in dragon boat racing.

There will be three 500m races and one 2,000m race for community teams, as opposed to two 500m, one 1,000m, and one 2,000m for the premier teams. The top three teams in each division will be awarded medals.

For spectators, this event is free. They will have access to food and a beer garden. Vendors will also be on hand to sell arts and crafts, merchandise or provide information about programs and services.

To advertise this event, Washington DC flyer printing services may be asked to provide marketing materials.

The Capital Dragon Boat Regatta will be held at the Southwest Waterfront on the Washington Channel on August 27. For the most up-to-date and detailed information about this event, visit the official website.
