Torrington winter bird outing
Deep winter can be a good time of the year to view birds in the Torrington area, and a group of birders will be paying a visit to a local green space to see what species they can spot.
The 4,000-acre White Memorial Foundation is home to many types of feathered friends, and its mixed forest provides both food and shelter. It is noted for being one of the state's best spaces to view birds, and Craig Repasz will be leading guided visits to the site.
The attendees will walk the trails that wind through both forested and grassy areas, and woodpeckers, finches, sparrows and other types of birds may all be seen. Two experienced trackers will be joining in the experience, and they will teach the group how to “read” tracks left by the mammals that call the site home. The registrants have been asked to meet up in the parking lot at White Memorial in Litchfield.
Birding is a hobby that can be enjoyed by all sorts of people, including children, seniors and those who are disabled. Local outings may be promoted to a community by using materials prepared by a local flyer printing company.
This visit to a Torrington area green space will be enjoying searching for its furry and feathery residents on February 25th, 2024. It will head out from the meet up point at 8:00 am.
