Stamford Symphony presents New Year Brass

The Stamford Symphony will present an online virtual performance of “New Year Brass” early in January. The performance will be by the symphony’s Brass Quintet.

The 45-minute musical program will include Stamitz Wind Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 8 No. 2 and brass pieces by Maurer, Holborne, and Bach.

Current symphony subscribers can attend the virtual VIP Green Room after the concert. Michael Stern - the orchestra’s music director and conductor - will be answering questions posed by the viewers, and the members of the Brass Quintet will share little known information about the unique experience of playing in a small group as compared to playing in a full orchestra.

Registration will be free and reminders will be sent by email a few days prior to the performance. The performance can be viewed on the StamfordSymphony.org website. Registration will also give each patron a chance to win six bottles of champagne.

All this year’s Stamford Symphony virtual events will be free. In lieu of registration fees, the symphony is asking patrons to support it with monetary donations of $25, $50, $75, $125 or $200. This time of year, many businesses support arts organizations such as this with corporate gifts as part of their community outreach programs.

The premier performance of New Year Brass will be 3:00 pm next Sunday, January 3.
