Stamford joins nation in walk to end epilepsy

Stamford families and individuals are gathering May 7th at Cove Park for the 5th Annual Walk to End Epilepsy family-friendly walk. The walk is to raise awareness and support for the 36,00 people here in Connecticut that live with epilepsy.

The route will be wheelchair accessible and paved. Check in and registration will be at 9:00 am followed by the announcements and comments by Mayor Caroline Simmons and Epilepsy Warrior Taylor Logan. At 10:00 am the walk will begin, and an hour later there will be light snacks and sandwiches offered during an after walk celebration.

Although registration will be free (and required), participants are encouraged to make donations and/or raise funds. Walkers making donations over $20 will receive t-shirts sporting the event’s Walk to End Epilepsy graphic design. Top fundraisers will receive prizes.

The Connecticut Epilepsy Foundation has a goal to raise $100,000 from this and seven other walks being planned around the state during May.

Other locations and dates for these walks begin with Parmalee Farms in Killingworth on Sunday May 8th. East Lyme will have its walk on Saturday May 14th at Rocky Neck State Park; New Milford on the 15th at Harrybrooke Park; Farmington will have its at Winding Trails also on the 15th. Orange’s walk is scheduled for the 21st at High Plains Community Center, and Tolland will have theirs at Crandall Park on Sunday the 22nd.
