Newtown movie lovers who delight in watching the annual Oscar awards presentation on television,= might want to take things up a notch this year by attending an event organizers are calling ‘The 87th Academy Awards in Grand Style’.
The awards ceremony will be shown on a huge projection screen as onlookers mix with others in the community and dine on gourmet cuisine.
Every year, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences puts on an award show honoring exceptional performances by actors with Oscar statues. Awards are also given for movies in general, directing, and other behind the scenes workers.
Those not able to attend can watch the broadcast on television. To make it a more entertaining affair, event organizers have set up a larger than life viewing experience using a state-of-the-art digital projection system. Attendees are expected to dress as if they were attending the actual ceremony and will be treated to hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and beverages. The event will be held Sunday, February 22, starting at 6:30 pm at The Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State Street, Newtown and will run until the final award is given.
