Newtown businesses are once again sponsoring the Paint our Town event, which takes place very soon
This has been hailed as Newtown’s Halloween Art Scene. Everyone is invited to view the results of local talented artists as they get their creative juices flowing.
The main event will be the window-painting contest. As in years past, local businesses volunteer their storefront windows as canvases for Halloween-themed works of art. Award winning categories will also be entries with themes such as Store, Scout, Multi- pained, Spookiest, Character, and Colorful windows. Rules state that all work must be freehand. This year’s judges will be Countryside Gallery and Custom Frame Design.
Other contests will be the Scarecrow contest with categories such as best merchant and most disturbing. Two divisions of cupcake chefs and designers – the younger set (15 and under) and the adults – can enter the Cupcake Wars. Awards will be handed out for best taste and best presentation. Winning entries will be displayed the following week on Washington Avenue at Caketerial.
Pets will not be left out of the celebration as they are invited to don costumes and participate in the annual Frankenweenie Pet Parade. This is the sort of event that could certainly use some Halloween Flyers around town to pass the word along.
The fun is scheduled for October 17, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. The rain date will be the next day, October 18, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
