Newtown theater to give family-friendly improv show

The Newtown Theatre will be holding an improv performance in July led by UnScripted Productions.

Making It Up: An Afternoon of Family Improv, is a child-friendly event where guests can enjoy a fast-paced performance made up on the spot. Viewers will get to influence every aspect of the show by making suggestions to the performers. The venue’s concession stand will be open during the improv performance, and people are allowed to arrive an hour early to the event. Discounts are available to members of the Newtown Theatre.

UnScripted Productions is a company founded by Will and Danielle Dennis, a husband and wife duo who are members of the Actors Equity Association. The organization was formed in 2018 and offers many classes, such as Intro to Long Form, Improv for Educators, and Kids Improv. The company can even host teambuilding activities for other businesses. UnScripted Productions also started The Yes and Challenge to encourage people not to say no to opportunities.

The family improv performance will be held on Sunday, July 9 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Those 13 and up can pay $25 for admission, and children may purchase tickets for $15. Members of the theater can also enter for $15. Performance venues that hold child-friendly activities like this can use Print shops to make ads that share their shows with families in their area.
