Newtown studio gives intensive dance workshop

A local dance studio in Newtown will be organizing a summer program in August to teach children advanced moves.

The Summer Intensive program is an educational experience for those aged eight and above for campers interested in learning several types of dance. The course will cover styles such as contemporary, classical ballet, and hip-hop. During the workshop, students will also improve their flexibility, stamina, and centered control. The class is taught by multiple instructors and will include lessons dedicated to French terminology and dance history.

The venue of the program is the Debra Sparks Dance Works studio. Debra Sparks, the founder, has danced for groups like the Marcia Hyland Dance Company and has taught master classes at Rowan University. Her studio works with several charitable organizations, including The American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. Sparks also has experience of choreographing for television and theatres. The studio offers lessons like TikTok Hip Hop, Commercial Jazz, and Creative Movement.

The intensive dance class will be held from Monday, August 1 to Friday, August 12. Each session at Sparks’ studio will last from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Campers must pay $700 to take part in the full session. A final showcase will be held on the last day. Dance studios that have camps like this may use poster printing to advertise themselves at schools and libraries.
