Newtown runners lace up for Run the Gates

The 12th annual Run the Gates will be held early in June. Participants can choose to partake in a five-mile or one-mile walk/run.

Overall winners (male and female) in the five-mile run will receive awards. Awards will also go to those who finish first, second and third in the 12 age categories. The top three female and male finishers in the one-mile run will also get awards.

This will be a fundraiser for three Bucks County nonprofits: one will be the Center for Independent Living of Bucks County, which provides scholarships to Bucks County Community College. Another will be Handicapped Crusaders, which help the area’s mentally and physically challenged adults by holding monthly meetings. The last organization is Delta Community Supports, Inc., which is a group that supports adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, and also has adoptions and foster care services.

The Center for Independent Living and Peruzzi Nissan of Falls Township will also be raffling off a new Nissan Altima vehicle. The winner, perhaps a Newtown resident, will be announced after the race. Someone is sure to take pictures of the winner with the new car for later Brochures and poster printing.

Both races will begin and end at Forsythia Crossing Park, Levittown. The five-mile run will start at 9:00 am, and the one-mile run/walk will start at 9:05.
