Christmas in July, Joe Conklin’s 5K Run/Walk, will be heating up in a couple of weeks.
The run will have two options, one of which will be a run for participants ages 21 and older. These tickets will include a theme-related T-shirt, race bib, 16-ounce promotional Drinkware, and a bottle opener that can be used as a Christmas tree ornament.
The second option will be for those runners who are under the age of 21. They too will receive a Christmas race shirt and racing bibs, but they will get a Christmas tree ornament ribbon instead of the bottle opener and pint glass.
The terrain for the race will be largely flat with gently rolling hills. There will be free refreshments served before and after the race at the restaurant starting line. Water stops will be provided, and vendor tables will be onsite.
All of the proceeds from this event will go to Mary Kate’s Legacy Foundation. This organization aids special needs children and their families by providing van lifts, wheelchair ramps, and ceiling lifts.
The Joe Conklin’s Christmas in July 5K is scheduled for Thursday, July 27 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Green Parrot Restaurant, 240 North Sycamore Street, Newtown. Packet pickup and late registration will begin at 6:00 pm. The race will begin at 7:30, with preregistration available via Eventbrite.
