The Newtown Shamrock Shuffle 5K will partner with A Love for Life to raise money for researching pancreatic cancer.
The Newtown Shamrock Shuffle 5K is a St. Patrick’s Day-themed race that takes place throughout the city’s historic district. All participants in the 5K are required to keep up a pace of 20 minutes per mile and complete the course within an hour. Those who finish the Shamrock Shuffle will be given a custom magnetic finisher’s medal that doubles as a bottle opener, along with a commemorative long-sleeved shirt. A festival will be held after the race.
A Love for Life is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 by Christine Edmonds. The group has partnered with The University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center to find a cure for pancreatic cancer. The non-profit hosts several fundraisers to help fight pancreatic cancer, including the Austin Half Marathon and Tennis Benefit. People can support the group by donating online or participating in one of its ongoing fundraisers.
The themed 5K will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Adult racers must pay $55 to participate in the event, which includes a custom runner’s bib and discounts to local businesses. Children can join the program for $20. Registration for the 5K closes on March 8. People who promote races like this can utilize banner printing to make easy-to-see Signs to display outdoors.
