The Bookin' for Lookin' Foundation will be holding a race in April at Council Rock High School North in Newtown.
The Bookin' for Lookin' 5K Race is an event where people can show their support for those who are visually impaired. The proceeds earned from the athletic program will be given to the Bucks County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The purpose of the race is to help raise local and global awareness for various eye conditions and improve the quality of life for people impacted by visual impairments. The organization has raised $80,000 since it was formed in 2013.
Those who want to help the Bookin' for Lookin' Foundation can become a volunteer for the race. There are many activities people can do to help the organization, such as distributing racing packets, raffle items, and event shirts to participants. Volunteers may also become course marshals to warn runners and race directors about potential dangers. Marshals also keep participants on the right course by offering directions.
The 5K race for the visually impaired will be held on Sunday, April 30 and will begin at 8:30 am. Runners are asked to arrive no later than 8:15 am for the event. The price to enter the event is $35 for those who join before race day. Foundations that put together races like this may use banner printing to raise community awareness for their events.
