Newtown library to offer group meditation session

The Newtown Public Library will hold an event in August where people can be introduced to mindfulness meditation.

Mindfulness Meditation with Clayton is an in-person experience that teaches attendees how to use meditation to reduce stress and improve their moods. The live session will show people how they can return to the present moment and disrupt negative automatic tendencies. The course will be taught by Clayton Platt, a public speaker, executive coach, and mindfulness teacher who has earned certificates from The Greater Good Science Center and NeuroLeadership Institute.

Platt is the president of the nonprofit Meditation4Leadership and owns Mindfulness Meditation - Introduction & Expansion. The organization offers several virtual sessions that help people stay connected and mindful. Platt’s group has also held panel discussions with experts like Cheryl Jones-Walker, Frank D. Grossman, and Stace Williams. He has written blogs on many topics, including the power of choice, how to find hope, and dealing with regrets.

The mindfulness meditation session will be held on Friday, August 16th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The event will occur in the Newtown Public Library’s Community Room. Seats are limited for the meditation activity, so guests must register in advance. Instructors who hold group sessions such as this may bring Business Cards to their events to connect with potential clients who want to work with them again.
