Dates dwindling for spooky Newtown event

Halloween attractions are in full swing and one of the scariest is right here in Newtown, but local fright-seekers need to move quickly to avoid missing out.

Sleepy Hollow, with its haunted hayride, house, and Field of Fright, along with live music and bonfires, will get Newtown folks into the Halloween spirit.

The hayride will take guests out into the fields of a 230-acre farm where strange phenomena will demonstrate why farmers never go outside after dark.

The ‘Haunted House in the Hollow’, Malfate Manor, has 17 rooms, a cemetery, and a greenhouse, all of which convey part of the manor’s tragic history. Each room has a door for those who get too frightened.

The Field of Fright is a path through a corn field that will have everyone screaming.

For those who just want to take a hayride through a pumpkin patch during the day, there are rides to the patch where each ticketholder may select a pumpkin. There are also inflatable bounce houses, a rope maze and a children’s playground. Other activities will include pony rides, a corn maze, farm animals, and corn cannon.
