Local classical music lovers will have an opportunity to enjoy a performance of Newtown Chamber Orchestra this month.
The family-friendly event will feature a variety of tunes by musicians who donate their time to provide locals with a taste of classical music.
The orchestra will once again offer its ‘Soloists On Stage’ performance, which means that various professional musicians will be highlighted throughout the evening. The program will consist of six sets, each featuring different musicians and different genres.
The first will be a ‘Jazz Melody’ featuring the Trenton Brass Quintet Plus One, and six other musicians. They will be followed by Meredith Laing on violin and Peter Lauffer on piano performing Edward Elgar’s ‘Deux Chanson For Violin and Piano’. Bizet’s ‘Carmen Fantasie’ will be performed by Erica Simon on flute, Avery Bree on bassoon, and Clipper Erickson on piano.
There will be a short intermission, after which ‘Little Pieces for Violin and Piano’ will be performed by Milton Schwartz on violin and Clipper Erickson on piano. Erickson will follow that up with a rendition of ‘Eight Bible Vignettes’, and the program will conclude with a performance by the LBN Jazz Quintet.
Those planning to attend may want to update their digital Business Cards to share with other attendees during the intermission.
The performance will be given Saturday, January 16, starting at 7:00 pm at the Lutheran Church of God's Love, 791 Newtown Yardley Road, Newtown. Tickets will cost $25 and can be purchased online.
