What's Happening in Newtown, CT…

Annual market to return to Newtown

Newtown will bring back its annual marketplace in October, where people can browse vendors throughout the city’s historic streets.

Market Day is an experience that brings high-quality vendors to the community and pays homage to the town’s colonial traditions. The marketplace will feature several colonial-era demonstrations and reenactments, and there will also be a stage for live music and puppet shows. People can see businesses like Alexa Barbiche Designs, Barclay Mountain Candles, and Wandering Wildflowers at the event. Shoppers may purchase food from vendors like Angie’s Vietnamese Cuisine, Goofy Footed Goodies, and Local Harvest Pizza.

People can support Market Day by volunteering at the festival. The positions will include selling refreshments to help the Newtown Historic Association, managing traffic, passing out posters to businesses, and taking pictures. Companies can also become supporters of the historic fest by paying between $250 and $2,500 for a sponsorship. Those who sponsor Market Day will receive a membership to the Newtown Historic Association and online recognition.

The festival will be on Saturday, October 5 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and the rain date for the event is on Sunday, October 6. There is no cost for people to browse the historic streets and enjoy the program’s entertainment. Vendors who attend events like Market Day may bring promotional products to their booths to create positive interactions with consumers.
