Rockfall Foundation marks 90 years of environmental stewardship

This October, the Rockfall Foundation will commemorate its 90th anniversary with a special evening celebrating environmental education in the Lower Connecticut River Valley.

Established in 1935, the foundation was created to preserve parks, forests, and wild lands for public enjoyment. Today, it continues this mission through grants, educational programs, property stewardship, and the operation of the historic deKoven House as a hub for local environmental organizations.

The anniversary event will feature a reception with beverages, food, and live entertainment, alongside exhibits from 2025 grant recipients showcasing their work in conservation and education. Guests will have the chance to network with community leaders, environmental advocates, and supporters before the evening program begins.

The program will include welcome remarks, the presentation of the Environmental Champion Awards, and a keynote speech by Christine Palm. Palm is recognized for her work on climate law-making, including the directive for education on climate change in public schools. Her career spans journalism, advocacy, and education, and she currently leads The Active Voice initiative.

Tickets for Rockfall members are priced at $75 and $90 for non-members. Proceeds will directly fund the foundation’s community grants and conservation programs.

Event organizers may find flyer printing to be an effective way to promote community gatherings like this one.

The celebration will take place on Wednesday, October 8th, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Wadsworth Mansion, 421 Wadsworth Street, Middletown, Connecticut.
