Ground breaking ceremony held for Middletown distribution center

The ground was recently broken at the site of a new FedEx Ground Distribution Center in Middletown.

The ceremony, which was attended by company representative, the state’s Governor, Middleton’s Mayor and other dignitaries, marked the beginning of construction of the building, which will cover an area of 500,000 square feet. It will also provide employment for more than 400 people and a lot of revenue for the local area as well as the entire state.

According to Alexander Kapinos, who is the Ground Managing Director for FedEx, this is only the beginning. As operations at the facility ramp up, even more jobs will be created. He explained that, due to the increase in popularity of online shipping, there has been a rise in demand for the services the company provides, and more will people will have to be employed to meet this need.

The facility will provide services to customers form the East Coast as well as the rest of the U.S.

According to Middletown Mayor Daniel Drew, the decision to locate the distribution center is part of a trend that has been present in the area for the past several years. Other large companies have also chosen to locate their facilities in the community. These often provide spin off benefits to other businesses, such as those that provide printing services.

The FedEx facility is expected to be up and running by early in the fall of 2018.
