Von Trapps coming to Danbury

The von Trapps, great-grand children of Captain Georg and Maria von Trapp whose life story was made into the movie “The Sound of Music,” will be coming to town soon. The quartet will sing a variety of songs from a wide variety of musicals, with occasional nods to the movie.

The von Trapps are the grandchildren of Werner, who was portrayed as the son Kurt in the movie. Theo group includes three sisters - Sofia (26), Melanie (24), Amanda (23) and their brother August (20). They have sung all over the world and the quartet has been on tour for most of the year. They have been promoting their first album, Dancing in Gold. Songs from the album will be performed at their show.

Their type of music ranges from Appalachia, to country to folk, with lyrics that sometimes include several languages. They will be backed by a wide variety of instruments, ranging from the ukulele to guitars and banjos. The group occasionally performs their own unique version of some of the songs from the movie as well.
