Two festivals planned for next month

Danbury will be treated to a pair of festivals, both coming in early June.

Main Street will become a pedestrian-only site for the six-hour 2024 Danbury Street Festival. Attendees can look forward to meeting local artisans as they browse through original arts and crafts, participate in interactive exhibits, and enjoy cultural experiences. A family-fun zone will have activities for everyone. There will be plenty of music, and food trucks selling summer treats and snacks.

The 2024 Danbury Festival will take place from noon to 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 1.

On Friday, June 7, The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church will be hosting its 2024 Greek Festival. Along with learning about the Byzantine church, attendees will also be immersed in the Orthodox traditions and other Greek culture. This will include live music, folk dancing performances with dancers wearing authentic costumes, wine, and, of course, food such as gyros (Greek kebabs), moussaka (eggplant casserole), pastitsio (Greek lasagna) galaktoboureko (custard pie), and baklava (pastries containing honey or syrup).

Stationery printers often use colorful folk dancing scenes for their European notecard sets.

This year's Greek festival will be from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm pn June 7th, 8th, and 9th at 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, which is the location of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Danbury High School will have a shuttle service and extra parking. Admission and parking will be free.
