Town to get a taste

Thousands of guests are expected to attend the upcoming Taste of Greater Danbury. Created in 1986, this event is one of the longest running free festivals in the Northeast.

Support for this occasion will be provided once again by generous donations from Danbury residents, as well as local corporations and companies.

Local restaurants will be offering their summer specialties for purchase. The organizers have asked the food vendors to keep their menu prices at under $5 per item. Nonprofits will also be setting up booths with information and displays, and several crafts booths will be displaying and selling handmade items from local, national, and international traders. All the vendors and non-profits will want to get their banner printing done soon. Children can enjoy the Kids’ Fun Run and many other activities.

The featured performance this year will be Big Shot. This band celebrates the music of Billy Joel. Mike DelGuidice, a Long Island native heads up the band. When he first heard Mike, Billy Joel once remarked in the New York Times:

“They had a hard time convincing me it wasn’t me. It’s uncanny.”

The festival is scheduled for September 12 –13 at City Center, 186 Main Street, Danbury. Saturday hours will be from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and on Sunday the festivities will run from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This will be a rain or shine event.
