Spring concerts scheduled at local university

Western Connecticut State University has six music concerts lined up for the next three months from its Danbury Concert Association Spring 2022 Season and Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) Spring 2022 programmes.

Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner will perform “Barcarolle” (Chopin), works by Rachmaninoff, “Humoreske” (Schumann), and “American Song Book” Preludes (Gershwin). It will be Sanchez-Werner’s third appearance at the Danbury Concert Association’s Visual and Performing Arts Center. Her performance will be Sunday, March 20 at 3:00 pm.

The Borealis Wind Quintet will perform on Sunday, April 10 beginning at 3:00 pm. The quintet will play pieces by J.S. Bach, Lefebvre, Briccialdi, Ungar, and Turrin.

A Far Cry, a classical ensemble, will be joined by mezza-soprano Krista River on Sunday, May 15. River will be singing “Il Tramonto” by Respighi. Tickets will be $25.

WCSU Music Spring 2022 will begin March 25 with a Night of Jazz. Big band classics will be performed by the University’s jazz orchestra, jazz ensemble, and Frankensax. The performance will be from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Four of WCSU’s outstanding jazz combos will perform standards, arrangements, and original compositions on Sunday, March 27 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

From 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Thursday, April 3, there will be a piano studio recital performed by WCSU Piano Majors.

All WCSU Music Spring 2022 performances will be in Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, VPAC and tickets will cost $10. Music departments like this often receive monetary Corporate Gifts from businesses supporting the arts.
