Everyone is invited to run or walk the Amber Room Run from the Sun 5k taking place here in Danbury in mid-August.
Both in-person and virtual race fees are currently $37 and will go on up to $40 on race day. Many race participants and teams will be raising funds for the event’s charity. Those individuals raising $100 or more can run for free.
Swag will be custom running T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design. The course will be an out-and-back beginning at the Amber Room and turning around at Candlewood Lake.
The after-party will have live music, refreshments, and an outdoor barbecue. Guests are advised to bring their own chairs or blankets. The awards ceremony will take place after the barbeque.
Awards will go to the top three female and male finishers, to winners in nine categories, and to the top three non-binary finishers.
Proceeds will go to Ann’s Place, an organization that supports people living with cancer and their families. Some of its services include counseling, peer mentoring, and wellness programs such as art therapy, yoga, and writing workshops. It also has a resource library. All services are free to cancer patients, survivors, and their families.
The Amber Room Run from the Sun 5k will begin August 17, at 6:30 pm at Amber Room, 1 Stacey Road, Route 37.
