Danbury music lovers will want to be picking along at the upcoming Ives Bluegrass Festival, or maybe just listening and dancing.
This will be Ives Concert Park’s first in what is set to become an annual event. The festival organizers have designed an interesting stark black and white banjo logo as part of the promotional poster and flyer printing project.
The band Cabinet will open the evening with music in the old folk, country, and bluegrass Appalachian tradition. The last album by the group, entitled ‘This is Cabinet-Set II’ was released back in March.
Greensky Bluegrass will take the stage after this. Based out of Kalamazoo, Michigan, this quintet plays all acoustic instruments accompanied by a light show. The group’s fifth album will be available to the public in just a few months.
Pre-event general admission tickets will sell for $25, while tickets purchased on the day of the event will be $35. The $50 VIP tickets will only be offered up to the day of the event. They include a food voucher, special seating, and a signed copy of ‘If Sorrows Swim’, the new album soon to be released by Greensky Bluegrass. Western Connecticut State University students can purchase $15 tickets on the day of the event, and children under six will get in free.
This festival is scheduled for this Sunday, September 14, at Ives Concert Park. Doors will open at 2:00 pm with live music beginning an hour later.
