Local organization works something out for Valentines Day

Those looking for something a little different to do for Valentine’s Day could consider signing themselves and their Danbury sweethearts up for the Valentine’s Day Massacre. This will be the second year in which Crossfit Danbury has hosted the event.

This competition will be made up of two-person coed teams competing in the Rx Division (which consists of activities performed using prescribed reps and weights) and Scaled Division (using weights scaled down to fitness level) with light or moderate weight snatches. Event heats, Movement Standards and the ‘workouts for the day’ (WODS) will be assigned shortly.

WODS being tested for the event include a three-pep max hand clean and jerk, and a squat clean and jerk of as many rounds as possible. Another WOD being tested is the OHS-C2B which consists of an ascending reps ladder. This is a series of reps that increase by two incrementally and continues for 12 minutes, incorporating both overhead squats and chest pull-ups.

Burpee will once again be awarding $500 cash prizes, and the event is sure to attract those who do not believe that the most romantic day of the year is an excuse for laziness. Pictures taken during this event should make interesting Valentine’s Day memories for later poster printing.

This event will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 starting at 8am at CrossFit Danbury, 22 Kenosia Ave, Danbury.
