Local library offers eclectic virtual events this month

Danbury Library is offering six virtual programs in May.

The first will be tomorrow, May 6, starting at 6:00 pm, as the owner of Lettering Design discusses and demonstrates the art of calligraphy. Debby Reelitz will be teaching over 20 techniques to add color and change handwriting.

The Zoom presentation starting at 4:00 pm on Monday, May 10 will involve Pollinator Pathway Steering Committee member Mary Hogue discussing how to establish food sources and habitats for hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife.

On May 14 at 10:00 am, Memory Specialist Jennifer Labrie and Edward Jones Financial representative Maria Xavier will be discussing Alzheimer’s Conversations about protecting health and wealth.

At 6:00 pm on May 18, viewers will need to their pencils and sketch pads ready to make fanciful or realistic sketches. Susan Jackson will discuss ideas, roughs and problem-solving, tone, line, shading, composition, and shape.

All About Owls will be the topic on May 24 at 7:00 pm, and the program will cover species, human threats, and natural history through personal experiences.

Finally, on May 28 at 3:00 pm, Botany Explorers will tour the Bartlett Arboretum. Kits for the DIY chromatography flower can be picked up at the library. This is a Facebook event and can be viewed on the library’s videos website.

All other programs will be free on Zoom, but registration will be required to receive the links.
