Local Danbury music center has full schedule next month

Danbury's Music Centre (DMC) has a busy March schedule.

A fundraiser for the Danbury Music Centre's Danbury Vaudeville Orchestra has been organized, and it is called the Silent Movies Made Musical. Under the baton of Michael Bank, the orchestra will play the musical soundtrack from "The Freshman" - the 1925 silent film classic.

Tickets will be $35.

The DMC fundraiser will take place Sunday, March 2 at Greenwood Features, which can be found at 269 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel.

Later, the Sell Your Old Gold Fundraiser is asking everyone to bring old gold items such as broken gold chains and rings. The items will be purchased and Checks issued. This fundraiser will take place on Friday, March 21 and 22 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the DMC.

The Danbury Symphony Orchestra will have a Spring Fling with an afternoon of classical and jazz music beginning with Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte Overture, continuing with Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, and ending with a Charlie Parker jazz set.

Admission will be free.

Spring Fling will be presented March 29 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm at WCSU Visual & Performing Arts Center.

The orchestra's Annual Student Concerto Competition will be held March 30 from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm at the DMC, which is on 256 Main Street.
