Jamaica feted with reggae

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence, Heart and Soul Ent will be bringing the 2022 Westside Reggae Festival to Danbury’s Western Connecticut University Westside Campus at the end of July.

Many Danbury reggae connoisseurs will be heading over to Ives Concert Park, 43 Lake Avenue Ext., for this year’s festival. The event will be family friendly.

The festival’s music line-up will include Tarrus Riley (She’s Royal, Stay with You, and Lion Paw), Maxi Priest (Close to You, Wild World, Holiday) and Cham (Ghetto Story, Ghetto Pledge, Ghetto Story Chapter 2). Other reggae artists performing will be the Black Soil Band, Dean Fraser, Mario Cheef, the Anthem Band, Statement, and Derrick Barnett. Stainless Sound’s DJ Outlaw will emcee. Food will be available for sale.

Fans of artists like these often check to see if there are any souvenirs such as event Posters, Mugs, hats, sweat bands, and T-Shirts sporting either the event graphic design or the entertainers’ Logo Design available for purchase.

Advance lawn tickets are $35, advanced reserved tickets are $45, advance reserve front tickets are $55, and tickets for children 12 years old and under will be $25. These can be purchased at the 2022 Westside Reggae Festival Eventbrite listing.

The event will open rain or shine 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 30 at the Ives and is scheduled to close around 10:00 pm.
