Holidays will be all about the music

Many upcoming holiday events here in Danbury will involve music from Christmas concerts to sing-a-longs.

Friday, December 9, families, and friends are invited to sing holiday tunes at 164 Deer Hill Avenue A Christmas Karaoke Sing-Along. Dinner, music and babysitting will be provided. Single tickets are available for $5, and family tickets are available for $10. Doors will open at 6:00 pm for a two-hour session.

Immaculate High School’s fine arts department will present IHS Sweet Sounds of Christmas highlighting its piano students, guitar ensemble, concert band, and Inspire Choir. Free admission will also include apple cider and Christmas cookies after the performance. IHS Sweet Sounds of Christmas will take place Sunday, December 18 at 2:00 pm, at 73 Southern Boulevard.

Another music event that evening will be a Free Candlelight Christmas Concert at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road. The hour-long program consisting of carols and other seasonal songs will be provided by a locally based a cappella singing ensemble and will include a sing-along. The performance will be from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Avenue, will be celebrating the season with a free traditional Christmas and Irish music evening. After an hour-long performance the evening will end with a Christmas Carol sing-along. The Christmas Trad Session will be Thursday, December 22 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Sing-alongs often have lyrics printed by local Print shops so everyone will have the words.
