The Palace Danbury will be holding an Oscar Shorts Marathon early in February. These will be the 15 short films nominated for the 2020 Academy Awards.
Of the 92 qualifying films, 10 will be selected by the Short Films and Features Animation Branch members and Documentary Branch members in each of the three categories. Five nominees from each category will be announced by the academy on January 13.
The event marathon will be divided into three timeslots corresponding to the three categories of nominated films. At 1:00 pm, the five nominees in the Animation category will be shown. The five Live Action Shorts nominees will begin at 3:00 pm, and the Documentary Shorts will begin at 6:00 pm. Tickets will cost $15 per timeslot.
True movie buffs that support events such as this often arrange flyer printing so they can get the word out to family, friends and co-workers.
Those who attend the marathon will get the opportunity to get an advantage in the theater’s Oscar pool. The winner of the pool will be drawn from a bevy of names of pool entrants that correctly predict this year’s Academy Award winners. Oscar winning films will be announced February 9, and the winner of the Oscar pool will receive tickets to future Palace movies.
The 2020 Oscar Nominated Short Films Marathon will be on Saturday, February 1 starting at 1:00 pm at the Palace, 165 Main Street.
