Danbury Great Strides, a fundraising walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, will take place this year in early June.
Participants may register as individuals, part of an existing team, create a team of their own, or complete the walk virtually. Those creating teams of their own may then recruit family, friends, and co-workers to join them in raising funds and participating in the walk.
Anyone wishing to donate but not physically participate may support either an individual walker or a team by searching the name at the event’s website or giving directly to the cause.
Volunteers are needed for setup, clean-up, registration, greeting, monitoring the route, and as helpers in the Kids’ Korner. There is also a need for help in marking the route, setting up free food for the participants, and cheering at the finish line. Volunteers will also man rest stops along the route. Here, they will be cheering the walkers and handing out drinks. Enthusiastic supporters of events like this often arrange banner printing beforehand to add a bit of color to the festivities.
Clowns, balloon artists, magicians, and those with other talents can also donate their time. Photographers are also needed to take pictures of sponsors, teams, the route, and the start and finish line, as well as at the celebration afterwards.
Danbury Great Strides will take place at Lake Kenosia Park on June 4 with check-in beginning at 9:00 am. The 5k walk will begin at 10:00 am.
