Danbury Make Music Day comes on summer solstice

Joining more than 1,000 communities around the globe, Danbury will take part in the international make Music Day initiative on the summer solstice toward the end of June.

The event is being presented by Danbury Music Centre, CityCenter Danbury, Danbury Chamber of Commerce, and Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut.

Local outdoor spaces such as parks, public areas sidewalks, and porches will be filled with vocal and instrumental musicians of various abilities performing music from their favorite genres.

Those offering venues and those willing to perform are signing up on the Make Music Danbury website. Musicians not having a venue will be matched with the volunteered venues. Those wishing to hear the music can check the website for artists, times, and locations.

Some pairings already assigned are Atom Rush at Mothership Bakery & Café from noon until 12:45, Dennis & Fran at the Danbury Railway Museum from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and the Hawkins Band at the Danbury Library from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm. Other artists and locations are PJ Boatwright at the Palace Theater Marque from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm, Mick Louis at Danbury City Hall from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm, and the Ragamuffins at Urban Sculptural Park from 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm.

Cities that support events such as this often have pictures of the event taken to Print shops to be included in visitor brochure printing.

Make Music Danbury will take place June 21.
