The upcoming Mother’s Day weekend will have an eclectic array of events.
Starting at 6:30 pm on Friday, May 10, the Friends of Tarrywife Park, Inc. will host their annual Wines at the Mansion in Danbury fundraiser at the Tarrywife Mansion at 70 Southern Blvd. The evening will be replete with hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and live music. Over 100 wines will be available for tasting.
During Saturday afternoon from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm, the 9th annual STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art math) Fair & Robotics Expo will take place at the Danbury Hackerspace and the Danbury Library. Over 30 local craftspeople, inventors, artists, companies and makers will be exhibiting STEAM-oriented displays and activities such as LIGOS, drones, electronics, 3D printing, and many will have interactive demonstrations. Robotics challenges will run throughout the event.
The Water Lantern Festival will be in Ives Concert Park, 43 Lake Avenue Ext. on Saturday evening. Gates will open at 5:30 and the venue will have music and food trucks to entertain the guests until 8:00 pm. At that time, everyone will design their own rice paper lanterns and an hour later all the lanterns will be launched onto Ives Pond. Those who have done this say it is an emotional, peaceful experience. The event will end around 10:00 pm.
Photographers take colorful pictures at events such as these and take them to local Stationery printers to be made into Letterheads, Calendars, and Stationery.
