Danbury gets ready for the big race

Spring is right around the corner and there is still plenty of time for everyone to get in shape and register for the Connecticut’s Faxon Law Greater Danbury Road Races Half Marathon and 5K.

This will be the 12th running of the race, and if anything like the prior years, the race will have more than 1,000 participants.

The first 1,400 5K and Half Marathon entrants will receive technical running shirts. All Half Marathon finishers will receive medals and the male and female winners and runners up will receive up to $500 in prize money. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age category in both races.

Runners, and those who support them, will want to mark their Calendars for Sunday, April 3. The Half Marathon will kick off at 9:15 am with the 5K starting right behind at 9:25 am. The course will be an out-and-back starting at the Rogers Park War Memorial at 1 Memorial Drive here in Danbury and proceeding through Danbury, on into Redding, and then on to Bethel and back.

The 5K and the Kids Run courses are entirely in Danbury. The Kids Run will start at 9:00 am. Although the registration fee will be $9 per kid, those children who live in Danbury can run for free.
