Danbury enjoys spring concerts

Danbury jazz and classical music enthusiasts may be interested in attending the WCSU Jazz Fest or the Danbury Concert Chorus: A Celebration of Faure - both coming in early May.

The Danbury Symphony Chamber Orchestra and Danbury Concert Chorus will be presenting A Celebration of Faure commemorating Gabriel Faure's 180th birthday. Under the baton of John Cuk, the performance will be the composer's Requiem, and Cantique de Jean Racine. Guest soloists will be soprano Cristina Trnik and baritone Michael Trnik.

A Celebration of Faure will take place May 3rd, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at St. James Episcopal Church, 25 West Street. Admission will be free.

Veronica Hagman Concert Hall will be the location for four days of Western Connecticut State University's 28th Annual Jazz Fest.

On Thursday May 1st beginning at 7:00 pm, the fest will open with WCSU Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos and Frankensax (the university's large jazz ensemble).

May 2nd the WGSU Orchestra will perform with special guest trumpet player Jeremy Pelt.

WCSU faculty will be performing May 3rd. Performers will include saxophonists Jimmy Green and Andrew Beals, pianist Zaccai Curtis, and guitarist Jamie Begian.

Sunday May 4th, attendees will be treated to ACSU Alumni and Faculty Combo and the High School Honors Jazz Ensembles.

Organizers of classical music or jazz will typically use flyer printing so they can place Flyers in their workplaces and neighborhoods.
