The 2019 Danbury Irish Festival will be coming to town later in September. This three-day event has moved to a new location this year and will take place rain or shine in the new indoor/outdoor facility.
Inside entertainment will be on the Main Stage. Friday night will begin with the GDIF All-Stars and end with the Mighty Ploughboys. On the Saturday, the Traveling Danburys will start things off at noon and they will be followed by local dance teams, Irish singers ,and end with Tipperary Knights. Sunday’s entertainment starts at noon, with the Doherty Petri School of Irish Dance. It will also include Celtic Cross Pipe and Drum, Uncle Bill Whiskey and Friends, and Shilelagh Law, and close with DGIF All-Stars.
Fans of groups such as these usually have to take the group’s Logo Design and have their own T-Shirts made at local Print shops. Irish-themed merchandise and food vendors will be selling their wares.
Cultural activities on Friday will include displays on Irish crochet, family histories, blessings, genealogy, literature, music history and dance, and classes on topics such as the Irish language.
Children’s entertainment will have music games, face painting, Uilleann pipes, balloon twisting, a harp performance, and a singalong. The children’s area will also feature chalk and bubble zones, a scavenger hunt, carnival games, Leprechaun Bean Bag Toss, Thumbprint Rainbows, and other crafts.
The Danbury Irish Festival will take place September 20, 21, and 22 at the Portuguese Cultural Center 65 Sand Pit Road.
