Danbury dives into December fun

Festive frolickers have plenty of holiday performances scheduled for December in the Danbury area.

Western Connecticut State University’s Visual and Performing Arts Center will present its Annual Holiday Pops concert on Saturday, December 7. The WCSU Department of Music will showcase their vocal and instrumental groups. Some of these will be the Wind, Chamber, and Percussion ensembles along with Frankensax, their Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, and Symphonic Band.

The VPAC lobby will have a cookie and hot chocolate reception after the concert. The performance will take place at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, VPAC, 43 Lake Avenue Extension, from 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm. Tickets will be $10.

WCSU’s Sting ensemble will have its own performance the evening before on Friday, December 6 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. Online tickets are $6 plus fees and those purchased at the door will be $10. This concert will also be at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, VPAC.

Another music option on December 6 will be Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti. This will be a musical tale of the Magi and the Nativity. The performance will be in Ives Concert Hall, 181 White Street starting at 7:00 pm, and another will be Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 pm.

Many universities and colleges that present performances such as these often have pictures taken during the events. These photos are sometimes taken to local Print shops to be included in the following year’s brochure printing.
