Many folks of Irish decent here in town or who just love the culture are gearing up for the 2019 Danbury Irish Festival coming in the latter part of September.
The cultural tent will have classes on themes such as the Irish Language and displays featuring Irish crochet, art, Family histories, blessings, dance, and literature. Many displays will be about Irish history. These will include traditional music history, information pertaining to the potato famine and women of the Easter Rising.
Irish dancers from local dance academies including Thorne Academy of Irish Dance, Doherty Petri school of Irish Dancing and Ashurst Academy of Irish Dance will part of the non-stop entertainment. Families of dancers at events such as this like to take pictures of their prodigies in costume to local Stationery printers to be made into personal Stationery, such as family Calendars.
Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians will have lots of baked goods available for purchase in the hospitality tent. Irish Village will offer Irish-themed merchandise such as gifts, instruments, jewelry and more from Irish vendors.
Outside, attendees will get the opportunity to enjoy traditional Irish music, live performances of Gaelic language, dance, genealogy, theater, film and history. There will also be workshops and lectures.
2019 Danbury Irish Festival will take place at 65 Sand Pit Road Friday September 20th from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm, Saturday, September 21st from noon until 11:00 pm and Sunday, September 22nd from noon until 6:00 pm.
