Danbury runners had better get in shape for the Faxon Law Greater Danbury Road Races coming up at the end of the month. Runners can enter either the Half Marathon or the 5K credited courses. Local kids will have their own course, too.
This year the Half Marathon will kick off at 9:15am, followed by the 5K at approximately 9:25. The Half-Marathon will be a scenic loop course through Danbury, Bethel and Redding, while the 5K and The Union Savings Bank Kids Race will be totally in town, with the Bank waiving fees for local children.
Prize money will be awarded for the Half Marathon. The first male and female winners will receive $200, runners-up will get $100, and those who come in third will receive $50. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions, while prizes for the 5K will be given only to the winners in the 12 to 19-year-old divisions. Winners in the seven categories of the Half Marathon will also receive awards.
Live music will be part of the post-race party, which will begin at 9:40 am and go until noon. Supporters will want to get some banner printing done for their runners.
The event will be held March 29, in Rogers Park at Danbury’s War Memorial, 1 Memorial Drive, Danbury.
