Ann’s Place will be holding its Annual Holidays @ Home Festival of Trees online. The event will be a fundraiser to help local Danbury families dealing with cancer.
Three contests are available to enter. The first is to decorate a holiday item or Christmas tree. Contestants will design and create their entries and take pictures on JPG before entering the contest. Winners will be determined by the number of votes received over the four-week period.
The website offers tips on how to photograph a good picture. Some include use a great camera, choose a neutral background, use props, fill the entire frame, try special effects, and don’t use flash.
Contests that get good pictures often also send their JPGs to local Stationery printers to have Holiday Cards made. Winners can garner from $250 up to $2,000.
The “Think Outside the Box” will be an Upcycle Sculpture Challenge. Paper, cardboard, metal (such as Altoids cans) and plastic (like “clamshell” Boxes) can be used to create an original sculpture. If it can be recycled it can be used. Embellishments can include craft materials, wood, glass, Tape, paint and cloth. Three categories will be mini, medium, and unlimited. Prizes will be $250 Gift Certificates.
The final competition will be the Awkward Holiday Photo: sillier, wackier, or uglier the better. Winner will receive $250. 2020 Holiday at Home Festival of Trees will start on November 7 and run until December 5.
