Historical event shares history of chocolate-making in Avon

An Avon organization is in the process of organizing the last installment of a historical demonstration, and area residents are invited to join and learn more.

The History of Chocolate: 18th Century Chocolate-Making Demonstration has announced an official date for the last of three installments of the series, giving Avon residents one last chance to take in the demonstration and learn more about how chocolate was made hundreds of years ago. The experience will take attendees back to the 1700s and will be led by Pewter Pot Chocolate Shop representative Robert Lecce.

Lecce, who has extensive experience with similar demonstrations, will provide an engaging environment where guests can ask questions while witnessing the traditional methods for turning cacao beans into a beloved treat. Organizers can pair poster printing with grassroots marketing methods to generate excitement and drum up awareness of community events like this.

Traditional tools will be used when demonstrating the process, and visitors will watch the process unfold, starting with roasting the cacao beans and grinding them. Lecce will also showcase the refinement process necessary for the best results. Samples will be available to try, and products may be purchased.

The demonstration is scheduled for Monday, March 30 at 6:00 PM. It will be held at 381 Country Club Road in Avon. Interested parties can register online through the Avon Free Public Library.
