A local band comprised of professional recording and touring musicians will be paying tribute to another talented group in Downtown San Diego soon.

Stepping Feet is a tribute group for the Dave Matthews Band, and comprises musicians from both San Diego and Los Angeles. Mike Myrdal, a vocalist and guitarist, as well as bassist Sam Johnson, created the group in 2002, with the idea of using the best local talent to honor the work of Dave Matthews.

Unlike many tribute bands, Stepping Feet does not try to recreate a performance note-for-note, wear the clothing/costumes of the original band, or use their stage effects. Instead, they use their enthusiasm for Dave Matthews’ work to put their own interpretation on it, while still leaving it recognizable as Matthews’ music. Fans of Dave Matthews are promised the same high energy, as well as sax and violin solos, deep tracks, and original hits of that band.

Stepping Feet is a group of friends who got together to play cover songs, particularly those by Dave Matthews. However, they also enjoyed covering other artists, playing in local bars, and are an in-demand party band for corporate events. The group has performed for clients such as Chase Bank, the San Diego Chargers, Qualcomm, Google Inc., and others.

Stepping Feet will be at the Music Box on April 21. When they plan events like this, organizers will often work with poster printing to create advertising for the show.
